LDH Energy Refinery Services

Description of the image

LDH Energy Refinery Services owns and operates a refinery off-gas processing and fractionation system located along the Mississippi River in South Louisiana. LDH Energy Refinery Services consists of three facilities: two cryogenic gas processing facilities co-located with Motiva and Chalmette Refining refineries (capacity over 80,000 mscfd) and one NGL/Petrochemicals fractionator (capacity 25,000 bpd). These facilities are connected by an 85-mile pipeline, also owned and operated by LDH Energy Refinery Services. The fractionator is centrally located near market hubs for distribution to end users. LDH Energy Refinery Services acquired these facilities in 2005.

LDH Energy Refinery Services extracts high-value NGL’s and Petrochemicals (primarily ethylene and propylene) from refinery off-gas streams using traditional cryogenic gas processing technology, coupled with extensive contaminant removal systems. Specifically, LDH Energy Refinery Services takes refinery off-gas as feedstock, separates the methane and hydrogen streams, returns these streams to the refineries, and then transports the remaining NGL's and Petrochemicals streams to the central fractionator to separate them into their higher value component parts.

Refinery off-gas is traditionally burned by refiners as fuel gas, yet it is a non-traditional and low-cost source of rich, un-recovered NGL’s and Petrochemicals. These liquids can realize higher commercial values in the petrochemical and fuel markets than as fuel gas.

Sea Robin

The Sea Robin Gas Processing Plant (Sea Robin) is a cryogenic gas processing plant with a gas capacity of 850 million cubic feet per day and a liquids capacity of 1.1 million gallons. Sea Robin is located in Erath, Louisiana (Vermilion Parish) on an 11-acre tract adjacent to Henry Hub, “straddling” the Sea Robin Pipeline system. LDH Energy purchased its 20% equity interest in Sea Robin in 2002. At present, there are 12 owners and approximately 25 gas producers processing gas at Sea Robin. Hess Corporation is the plant operator.

As Sea Robin is located adjacent to Henry Hub, it has access to nine interstate and four intrastate natural gas pipelines. NGLs output is delivered into the Enterprise NGL Pipeline system for fractionation downstream.
